Italian PM Giorgia Meloni all praises for India's potential, says India can play a very important role in ending wars

Italian PM Giorgia Meloni on India's potential: Italian PM Giorgia Meloni is all praises for India. Speaking at UNGA, she stated that India can resolve all conflicts at global level. Supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's peace role despite the ongoing India-US conflict over Russian oil. 

Giorgia Meloni said that India can play a “very important role” in solving the tension around the world. Meanwhile, she also praised New Delhi’s peace move even during the conflict over its purchase of oli from Russia.

In her statement to ANI, speaking on the sidelines of the UN Assembly in New York, she said, “I think India can play a very important role.” 

Notably, Meloni's comment came when US and New Delhi remains under conflict over import of Russian oil. In the recent speech at UN, Donald Trump accused both India and China of being “the primary funders of the ongoing war by continuing to purchase Russian oil,” in connection with the conflict in Ukraine.

Notably, Donald Trump recently slapped an additional tariff of 25 per cent on India, particularly due to the Russian oil-linked imports, making the total tariff on India to be 50%. However, Indian official have called this move of US as “unfair”. 

It is to be noted that Meloni recently extended her wish to PM Modi on his 75th birthday. Taking to her social media handle, Meloni wrote, ''Happy 75th birthday to the Prime Minister of India. Her strength, her determination and her ability to lead millions are inspiring. With friendship and esteem I wish him health and energy to continue to lead India towards a bright future and to further strengthen relations between our nations.''

However, Meloni further speaking in New York, added: “International pressure should be placed on Hamas rather than Israel.” She also blamed the militant group for initiating the war and continuing it further by refusing to free hostages.
